Though I’ve only been with Little Red Rooster for just over a year (which is nothing compared to many rooster veterans), my role at the company has already changed three times. Starting out as a junior account executive on the fashion team headed up by senior account manager, Tabitha Grove, I was given plenty of valuable time to really learn the ins and outs of our clients. Being given lots of admin responsibility, such as stock taking and sample management etc, was a great opportunity to learn and study my client’s products and I even got stuck straight into sell-in! Having my manager known as the queen of coverage, it’s no wonder I was able to achieve hits in national papers such as The Sunday Times (my first piece!) and the Mail on Sunday’s You Mag within months of being here.

Another aspect of the role I absolutely loved handling was incoming stylist requests for our client Pantherella. This allowed me to build relationships with stylists from incredible titles such as Vogue and the Sunday Times Style resulting in front cover coverage like the below.

For many years now Little Red Rooster has also managed the social media channels for clients such as Smeg, Victoria + Albert Baths, Contigo and many more. Winning over clients with the mantra of ‘Your PR agency knows your brand inside and out, so why have anyone else manage your social platforms?’ has been proven time and time again within the results achieved. Since Little Red Rooster assumed responsibility of Smeg’s social channels in 2020 their Instagram following has grown by an enormous 75k (an increase of 89%), seeing over 18 million impressions and over 25k website clicks. Since picking up lots of responsibility on the account myself a few months after starting here, I’m really pleased with the results achieved and it’s definitely played a part in making me fall in love with all things social media.

After firstly being promoted to Account Executive and picking up a lot more of the social side of things, the breadth of knowledge I’ve learnt about clients and their products combined with a passion for all things social media, allowed me to evolve happily into a new role of Social Media Executive.
Day to day my role includes, community management and outreach across channels (important for increasing organic engagement), pulling together monthly grids and content plans, creating engaging and well-designed stories and video content on Adobe Premier Pro, influencer management (both paid and gifting), frequent reporting on results and making recommendations for improvement and growth, keeping on top of the latest trends and news features and advising clients on how we can jump on these. An example of this for Smeg was following the Lurpak butter price hikes and creating a Reel using Smeg’s stand mixer showing customers how to ‘Make their own butter’. This resulted in Smeg’s most viewed Reel to date with a reach of nearly 50k and shows how important it is to create content that’s relevant and current. Very similar to news hitchhiking in PR, further reinstating how PR skills can directly transfer to social!
What I love about the social accounts I handle is the range of different clients we have at Little Red Rooster, one day I’ll be creating content for kitchen appliances, the next day it’ll be socks, and the next for a global baby products brand – the constant creativity needed is definitely what makes me tick.
It’s super exciting to be part of a sector at the agency which has had no option but to grow into its own department due to the results we’re driving and the new business we’re attracting.
