Social media marketing is all about engagement. What used to be a ‘who has the most followers?’ slight muscle flex, is now more like a ‘who has the highest engagement rate?’ strongman/woman competition. The biggest difference between the two is that engagement rate will indicate the quality of your following and is considered much less of a vanity project. However, that doesn’t stop brands, celebrities or influencers obsessing over following – it is the most visible indicator of a profile size after all.

Hi Nicole, what are your main responsibilities at Marshall?

As a Marketing Manager for EMEA, I focus on developing marketing plans to fit the UK & German markets. My job is to make sure consumers know who Marshall is and what we offer.

How the media landscape changed in 2020

COVID-19 has irrevocably changed life as we know it – how we communicate, spend time with our friends and families, our shopping and consumer habits and even the things we consider most important to us. We’ve all experienced a shift in our routines and this has changed how we consume information and shop – all of which has had a huge impact on the media industry.  As we endure lockdown 3.0, we look back at how the media landscape changed in 2020.

2021: The start of a “new world order” for media and marketing?

Here at Little Red, clients and journalists alike rely on us to have our finger firmly on the pulse, both in terms of the media landscape and also the trends that shape the main sectors we operate in. As such, we prepare and send bi-annual trend reports to our clients. However, 2020 was rather peculiar so we decided to conduct our trends presentation virtually with our clients just before Christmas.

Needless to say, the presentation was very different from previous reports, and encompassed many more elements than simply the influence of the big design fairs and fashion shows.
