Here at Little Red Rooster, we’ve always stood up for transparency – whether it’s the results we offer our clients to the financial updates we share with our team. Transparency is a core contributing factor in our B Corp status, which isn’t just about being green or eco but about how our business operates, the treatment of our team and we work with our clients.

So, it’s no surprise we’ve taken the We Show the Salary pledge – an initiative launched just last month which campaigns for a societal change on salary transparency on UK job ads to create a fairer, more inclusive and accessible recruitment process. In fact, we’ve already been doing this for some time!
Founded by Jo Tidball, whose varied background ranges from comms at PR firm Edelman to chief of staff at clothing brand Vollebak, We Show the Salary calls for UK employers to make a commitment to show salary information on all their job ads.
Here’s why it matters:
Firstly, achieving fair and equitable pay starts with the job ad. Showing salary info is recognised as a key part of levelling the playing field on pay gaps, allowing for pay to be clearly down to the skills and experience of the individual rather than their background or gender. As a diverse, inclusive and equitable employer, putting the salary in the job should – in our eyes – be a given.
Secondly, research shows over 50% of applicants wouldn’t bother responding to a job ad without salary info listed. To think of the potential talent pool of budding PRs out there missing out on dream roles seems a mighty shame. We’re proud to work with a bunch of rockstars, and we’d be lost without them!

And finally, time is precious. Highlighting salary expectations for candidates from the outset seems the right, and respectful, thing to do, so they can decide whether it’s the right financial fit and appropriate to their career level.
Other businesses to have taken the We Show the Salary pledge range from fellow PR & comms firms such as Ketchum and Full Fat, to entertainment (AEG Europe), retail (Co-Op), publishing (Emerald Publishing, IOP Publishing) and more.
Taking the We Show the Salary pledge builds on our B Corp credentials as an inaugural member of the Design for Diversity initiative and a Clean Creative. We’ve also been recognised – two years in a row! – in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards, a testament to our unique company culture – lovingly referred to here at the Coop as the Way of the Rooster.

We are currently hiring for specific roles across our team – you can find out more here – and we’re always open to speculative applications from talented PR and social media pros keen to join our team. You can find out more about available roles, our incredible roster of benefits and hear from our talented team here.
