Like most of you, as of last week, the Coop moved to remote working. This meant that from Bristol to Berlin, us roosters were working from home and keeping our press offices as active as possible. The use of video calls surged, with Slack and Microsoft Teams being used like never before, enabling us and companies across the country to try and work as normal as possible.
Working from home comes with a bundle of pros and cons – from the peace and quiet you need to really crack on, to the lack of social activity and the constant temptation to tackle housework. Working from home is not everyone’s cup of tea, however, with the current climate it has become mandatory for many of us.
Below is a few tips and tricks we’ve come up with to keep working from home as productive and enjoyable as possible – with a little help from our roster of brilliant clients.
Tip #1 – get up and go like it’s just any other day
We are all guilty of it but try not to just move yourself from your bed to the sofa when working from home. Get up, get dressed, have a coffee. Try and get yourself in a mindset that you are in the office and ready to work. Why not invest in a new coffee machine such as Smeg’s glorious ECF01 and create an authentic cup of coffee every morning just like you would enjoy in a coffee shop, but this time in the comfort of your own home.

Tip #2 – set up your office space
Creating a space at home where you are comfortable and ready to work is paramount. From the correct lighting to a comfortable desk and chair, it is so important to be able to concentrate throughout the day plus be able to separate yourself from work life once done. How about using canvases from Nanoleaf to add ambience to your space? Or plugging into Primephonic, the classical music streaming service perfect for keeping calm and concentrating when stuck inside for days at end.

Tip # 3 – stay organised
Working from home also brings with it the need to be as organised and versatile as possible. Using products like SanDisk’s Extreme Pro Portable or WD My Book allows you to transfer work files quickly and easily, so you know they are safe and ready to take into the office later down the line. Plus, if your laptop is starting to run low on disk space then these devices will increase your tech’s life expectancy whilst working remotely. While you have the time, why not organise the files on your desktop? Clear out the ones you don’t need and feng shui both your work and personal online space!

Tip #4 – health is wealth
Take advantage of the time you have at home, away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. Enjoy your space and indulge into a little self-care. Whether that’s putting a face mask on, watching a new series on Netflix after work or spending time in the kitchen, make sure you are putting yourself first in this anxious time. How about making a fresh juice every morning or doing a virtual bake off with your friends?
