It may only be the middle of November, but it is certainly not too early to get in the festive swing of things. The John Lewis advert is out, the Regent Street Christmas lights have been turned on and Slade might have crept onto the radio once or twice already. So, in partnership with our client Smeg, the Italian innovator of design-led kitchen appliances, we decided to host a special Christmas supper club at its luxury flagship store in the heart of London.
A smorgasbord of VIP journalists from the likes of Stuff, Enki, ELLE Decoration, Grand Designs, Ideal Home, Livingetc, The Gadget Show, Evening Standard Homes & Property, The Pool, House & Garden plus Get Brogue attended the divine event last Thursday evening.
On arrival, attendees were greeted to a champagne reception and then guided downstairs for a delicious three-course winter themed meal prepared by Smeg’s team of food specialists. Each delectable course was prepared right in front of media guests using Smeg’s versatile appliances including the Hand Blender and Classic Steam Oven.
The meticulously crafted three-course menu comprised of a flan using Montecoppe cheese, pancetta, Montecoppe onion chutney and side salad to start. For the main, Paprika Salmon was presented on a bed of blanched spinach, chorizo and cannoli beans with a Tia Maria chocolate sundae rounding things up for dessert.
The cheese came direct from the Smeg’s family-owned farm, Montecoppe, found in the centre of Italy’s rustic Guastalla province. Each cow’s milk is processed using state-of-the-art facilities on-site and transformed into an aromatic Parmigiano Reggiano. The Montecoppe collection also comprises of traditional Italian Lambrusco, jams and mustards and is available to purchase from Smeg London, 14 Regent St, St. James’s, London SW1Y 4PH.
The Smeg Christmas supper club was a roaring success with attendees leaving feeling far more like Buddy from Elf than the Grinch.
