The best vegan brunch spots in Berlin

Vegan nutrition and abstinence have not been mutually exclusive for some time and this is none truer than in Berlin. Great vegan restaurants and cafĂ©s regularly open, whipping up quite creative and delicious dishes. From homemade spreads to scrambled tofu and the “classic” vegan English Fry Up, vegan breakfast plates are now more colourful than many charcuterie board. As our resident ‘German’ I’ve picked the best brunch spots in Berlin to whet your appetite! Perfect for that morning media meet or influencer catch up.

1. White Crow in Alt-Treptow

White Crow is a 100% vegan cafĂ©. Besides speciality roast coffee and homemade cakes, you can get lunch, bagels, sandwiches, kombucha and much more. They get their coffee from the Speciality Roastery “The Barn”. Do note that though that as the White Crow is especially popular on weekends, it can get super crowded.

2. Haferkater in Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte

Haferkater is a vegetarian cafĂ© specialising in sweet and savoury porridge variations. You can find Haferkater twice in Berlin – once in Mitte (Friedrichstraße), and once in Prenzlauer Berg. Here you can get porridge with nuts, applesauce, chocolate, beetroot and a wide variety of other toppings. Besides coffee and porridge, you can get cakes, cookies, sandwiches, soups and lunch bowls.

3. Café Neue Liebe in Prenzlauer Berg

With more than 80% vegan dishes, the “CafĂ© Neue Liebe” is one of the stops in Prenzlauer Berg. Here you can get Belgian waffles with different toppings (banana, ice cream, chocolate sauce), soup, salads, cakes and smoothies. There is also a large selection of sweet and savoury breakfast dishes and numerous sandwiches. Try the hot chocolate with vegetable cream in combo with a vegan croissant!

4. Jivamukti Canteen in Mitte

As part of the Jivamukti Yoga Studio in Mitte, the Jivamukti Canteen is a rather untypical café. Somewhat hidden in a backyard is a small vegan mecca. All dishes are 100% plant-based and made in the most environmentally friendly way possible. The menu ranges from burgers, soup, sandwiches and salads to cakes, cookies, smoothies and of course coffee. Usually there are also some raw and gluten-free dishes.

5. Brammibal’s Donuts in Neukölln, Mitte & Prenzlauer Berg

One of the most popular vegan places in Berlin (and perhaps my favourite!), Brammibal’s Donuts, is an all vegan cafĂ©. It serves an incredible selection of donuts in all kinds of colours, sandwiches and coffee. Right now, there are three different locations in Berlin, with more opening soon. Especially in Neukölln it can get super crowded on weekends. So, it’s best to be there early enough to catch a donut!
