It was all systems go on the virtual events front last week, ranging from briefing the crème de la crème of the gaming press on WD_Black’s latest launches to the grand reveal of Silhouette’s 2021 collections to who’s who in the optical and fashion media. Unveiling the Austrian eyewear designer’s exquisite ophthalmic ranges and providing an exclusive preview of its trend-driven SUN21 collection of sunglasses, press were treated to a sumptuous lunch and tipple over a digital presentation.
Acclaimed for its ultra-lightweight eyewear, Silhouette’s reveals did not disappoint! Ranging from sleek cat-eye shaped specs for women to angular squared aviators for gents, the brand’s 2021 optics have been inspired by ‘90s aesthetics. In addition, the SUN21 range, launching March, extended Silhouette’s ever-so-popular Accent Shades and introduced its all-new Sun Lite frames.

In line with Silhouette’s premium brand, guests enjoyed delicious grazing boxes for lunch along with Austrian wine to bring home the brand’s heritage. While the refreshments may have gone down a treat, the main event saw Silhouette’s head of design, Roland Keplinger, chat through the brand’s all-new frames via an in-depth preview. Following this, Roland tuned in live from Silhouette’s HQ in Linz, Austria to answer attendees’ eager questions on the collections. Our Tabby swapped her usual PR role to become a talk show host for the afternoon and questions flooded in. From lifestyle titles, Grazia, Cosmopolitan, Woman & Home, Hello! Fashion Monthly and S Magazine, to optical trade magazines, Optician, Vision Now,Dispensing Optics and Eyestylist, a plethora of key media for Silhouette were in attendance and jumped at the chance to chat with Roland. Questions and answers explored how Silhouette has dynamically navigated operating during COVID-19 to the impacts of extended time in front of screens on the eyes.

Our attendees all walked away (exited the livestream) with a wealth of knowledge on Silhouette and what is to come for the brand. It may be some time before physical press events return but for now, the facetime we get with press at virtual events is really working for the team and we can’t wait for our next event!
