In the latest instalment to our Meet the Rooster series, we chat to Lynnette, associate director and new head of design here at the coop.

Tell us about your Rooster journey so far, and how you got into PR…
My background is in marketing and brand development, but I’ve always been involved in PR by extension. I started my career working for the NHS (literally marketing blood) and moved to a design agency soon after that. After a three year in-house stint at Ted Baker, heading up their global brand marketing team, I started a family and then went back to a fashion tech accessories brand that I worked for previously, who happened to be Little Red’s first client, Proporta. Little Red’s founder, Vic, and I had been discussing working together for almost a decade but me being based in Brighton always seemed a commute too far. Enter 2020 with its lockdown of madness and we realised the world is a smaller place than we had perhaps thought.
What excites you most about your job?
I’m a million-miles-a-minute person and I love the fast pace that PR brings, along with the variety of working across multiple clients at once. I love meeting people, showcasing brands I believe in and developing new business opportunities. I get a real buzz out of seeing an event come to life or landing a new client.
What have you been up to at Little Red recently?
Most recently I’ve been working with my team, launching a new quartz surface collection from Caesarstone. We’re in the middle of planning a virtual event for V+A Baths at London Design Week. We’ve also just hosted our annual PR summit, and we’ve recently landed a brand-new client that we’re very excited about… Watch this space.
What makes Little Red PR so special?
The culture, the team, the passion. I’ve seen many brands try to emulate what Little Red has, but not many manage to genuinely achieve it. And the results that the team delivers are borderline ridiculous. True stardust.
Describe your happy place?
Pre-Covid; exploring an untrodden part of the world, hanging out the doors of a train, listening to loud music, watching the world go by. Post-Covid; in the countryside somewhere with my daughter, looking at clouds and talking toddler nonsense. (I’d take my daughter travelling, but she’d cause havoc and really can’t be trusted).
Describe your work wardrobe?
Well I’m definitely part of the ‘apologies for looking feral’ Zoom call gang, but when it’s more business-as-usual I tend to go with a mix of smart and casual… A crisp, oversized shirt, pleated midi skirt and I love that women have now not only got the vote, but we can also wear flats and trainers.
Top Instagram accounts you follow and why?
I love @gold_is_a_neutral because I want Jess Hurrell’s living room in my house. I find Gary Janetti hilariously inappropriate. I’ve always been fascinated by US current affairs and follow @agirlhasnopresident who does an incredible job at using levity to spread the word on serious topical issues from the BLM movement to supporting the arts.
Do you have any advice for someone wanting to work in PR?
Get as much experience as possible. Do your research into the agency or brand that you want to work for. Ask questions, be curious, be enthusiastic and make sure that you’re passionate about the brands you’re representing. Above all, show willing and initiative and the rest will come.
