Meet the Rooster: Senior Account Executive Harry Myers

Little Red Rooster’s Tech and Music division defines rock n’ roll PR. That’s why, since joining in early 2024, Senior Account Executive, Harry Myers, has made it his mission to uphold those high standards. Heralding from the North West, music is what drew Harry to the Coop, but it’s a killer team and enviable results that have really got LRR under his skin.

Tell us about your experience and how you came to join the Coop?

I’m lucky enough to be one of those annoying people who can say what they studied and where their interests lie have directly contributed to my career to date, especially in my role at the Coop!

Starting with music, my experience spans about 16 years as I’ve played the Saxophone since I was nine, so I always had a feeling it would contribute to my career in some form. I have my mum and dad to thank for that – they’ve been educating me on ‘real’ music since I was born with The Ramones, Green Day, E.L.O., Michael Jackson and more pretty much forming the underscore to my childhood…

I’ve played in Big Bands, Rock and Indie bands, as a solo artist and session musician for the last 10 years, and have always held a candle to discovering and celebrating music in whatever way I can – looking at the brands we have on our roster at the Coop, it would have been crazy to miss the opportunity to be a part of it when it presented itself!

But my professional journey in finding my place at the coop actually spans a few years. I originally reached out to Little Red Rooster when I finished my degree in Music Journalism 2021 but being based up north and with little direct PR experience, it wasn’t the right time. Despite that, I was ready for a new adventure, so set my sights on developing myself and building my PR portfolio, which is when I was given a brilliant opportunity with a B2B agency based in Oxfordshire, where I joined as a Publicist. From day one there, it was all systems go – I still remember securing my first piece of coverage in the Banbury Guardian in my first week! I had the chance to work with some great clients spanning loads of industries while working closely with an equally fantastic team.

Fast forward two-and-a-half years after building a healthy black book of contacts, securing a promotion to Senior Public Relations Executive and being given the opportunity to manage my own accounts and team members, I decided it was time for another adventure.

I always kept up to date with Little Red Rooster, as knowing the team was working with Marshall, Meze Audio, Astell&Kern and loads more brilliant audio and music brands was really intriguing to me and was certainly an area of PR I wanted to pursue. It was time for round two. I tentatively reached out towards the tail-end of 2023, and just before Christmas, was offered a role as Senior Account Executive. Now, just seven months later and five months into my new role, I haven’t looked back.

What does your job entail?

My role, as I remember saying in my interview, is “my bread and butter.” I handle media relations and drive coverage for the tech and music clients here at LRR, as well as staffing events, entertaining journalists, being a point of contact for my clients and, as of more recently, taking on the responsibility of line management. After finding LRR the long-way-round, it almost feels surreal to have the privilege of being the main coverage driver for those brands who inspired me to apply for a role here in the first place.

My clients include Marshall, Meze Audio, Astell&Kern, Volumio, Philips Dictation, Campfire Audio and more. These, on top of being able to collaborate across the agency and have a part in achieving results for other best-in-class brands like Cambridge Audio, Goldmund, Smeg, King Living and Hush Puppies to name just a few really does feel amazing.

What do you love most about being a member of team Rooster?

Put simply, it’s the fact that there are always new and exciting opportunities you’d be crazy not to take up. In just five months, I’ve staffed five LRR events, taken part in a new business pitch, met heaps of amazing journalists, stood backstage at 2000Trees Festival and launched countless products, achieving some great coverage along the way!

There really isn’t any such thing as an ‘off day’ here, and you get out exactly what you put in at LRR. I love the pace that we work at, and I LOVE that we get so many opportunities to celebrate what we do as a team so regularly.

Describe your happy place…

Standing in a crowd surrounded by my nearest and dearest all enjoying live music. No specific band (although I of course have my favourites), just enjoying live performance and sharing a unique experience with people I love most in the world.

Most recently it was Fat Boy Slim, what a night.

Where can we typically find you outside of work?

Wherever the party is.

Tell us one thing nobody knows about you!

I like to think I’m an open book, but I’m sure that’s probably not the case. I suppose something that always feels pretty cool to mention is the fact that I got a shout out in a five-star review when I performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016!
