Meet the Rooster: Emma Younger, Senior AD

As Little Red Rooster marks its impressive 15-year milestone, we’re pausing to reminisce about the journey so far. Several of our veteran Roosters are sharing their stories and standout moments from life in the Coop.

This time, it’s senior account director Emma’s turn as she reflects on her almost decade-long journey with us…

Talk us through your Rooster journey so far

Before I joined LRR and pivoted into PR, I worked in recruitment for a few years’, at an agency in Reading and then for a FinTech start-up. Although incredibly different industries, there were several similarities between the two jobs like pitching on the phone, hustling to get cut through and juggling different stakeholders internally and externally which I think did set me up well for a career in PR!

What are your standout career highlights at LRR?

Too many to mention! I’ve been incredibly lucky to go on some incredible press trips and events in the last 10 years including a yacht party in Monaco with Loewe, a Dolce&Gabbana party in Milan with Smeg, the BRIT Awards and watching England versus France at the Euros way back in 2016.

At the BRIT Awards with previous long-serving Rooster Izzy King

Beyond the unforgettable trips and events, one standout moment has definitely been reshaping Smeg’s social media and content strategy. When we first took on their channels a few years ago, they were really underperforming – low follower numbers for such a big-name brand, minimal engagement and virtually no traffic coming through.

Fast-forward a few years and the transformation has been huge: follower numbers up by more than 560% and engagement soaring. It’s been amazing to play a part in that growth and to work with the brilliant team who helped make it happen!

You’re considered our in-house social expert. What 3 top tips (if you could narrow it down) do you have for brands looking to nail their social/content strategy?

Get crystal clear on your brand voice — and keep it real.

Audiences can spot a forced tone a mile off. Build a voice that feels authentic to your brand and stick to it. Show up consistently, talk like a human, and nurture your community rather than broadcasting at them.

Plan with purpose!

You don’t need to post every day – something many brands definitely worry about. Focus on creating content that actually serves your audience — whether that’s inspiring, entertaining or genuinely useful. Quality beats quantity every time.

Lean into what your audience loves.

Really pay attention to what the data and analytics are telling you. If a particular type of post gets people engaging, do more of it. Social is a constant test-and-learn game, so it’s important to be flexible and keep trying new things.

What’s your favourite thing about being a member of team Rooster?

Honestly, it’s the people. Working with a genuinely supportive, passionate and creative team is what makes every day lots of fun. The clients are just as great – I’ve been lucky enough to work on an incredible variety of brands keeps from non-invasive beauty treatments and sports eyewear, high-end mp3 players and soundbars to tableware and office furniture. It keeps things interesting and also rewarding.
