Yesterday, we hosted a special event with luxury British bathing brand Victoria + Albert Baths. The event was part of Focus during London Design Festival, held at its showroom in the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, one of our favourite design events of the year!
The event consisted of an educational and inspirational talk ‘From concept to completion: creating a narrative through interior design’. This was presented by design and interiors journalist Claudia Baillie alongside a panel of design experts including Jenny Lindsay-Fynn of luxury home staging company Decoroom and Jessica Morrison, lead designer at The GA Group.

With more than 25 years’ experience in house staging, Decoroom was founded in 2008 by Christina Parker and a young team of passionate designers. The team has staged over 1,000 properties in London from large period houses to prestigious developments and quirky contemporary spaces. Jenny stated she always want the rooms to be styled looking like a property as opposed to a set. The team also persuade developers to have a design thread to create a narrative for them, rather than just thinking about what space they have. Jenny also gave us top tips on creating and sourcing artwork, highlighting that art is critical to create the mood within a space, as well as lighting – low level lighting and lighting on dims.
The GA Group designed Chelsea’s new Belmond Cadogan hotel, which coincidentally specifies Victoria + Albert’s tubs in its bedrooms. With an exquisite design and unique story, this hotel is well known for Oscar Wilde partying in. Wilde was in fact arrested for lewd behaviour in the old building of this hotel in one of the suites! The GA Group has tried to design the new hotel, to show personality traits of Wilde in the final concept. This includes high shelving for collective pieces along with his books. The standard guest room ceilings are at a height of 3.6 metres, and feature calming and heritage colours to hark back to the Victorian era.
And just like that, our annual Focus activity is over for another year. Keep an eye out for our next showroom event during LDW March 2019.
