Proud to be a B Corp business

Little Red Rooster is incredibly proud to be a B Corp business. This means we officially meet exacting standards of social and environmental impact.
We are part of a community of change-makers and organisations with shared values collaborating to drive and support positive change.
Little Red Rooster is one of only a few PR agencies in the UK with B Corp status*, receiving a score of 90.8 (a score of 80 is the threshold to pass) for its first assessment report which is extremely high for a service-based company.
Little Red Rooster, outperformed in all sectors in comparison to other brands within its sector (average 80.1), other brands in the United Kingdom (82.3) and its size range (81.8).

Do Good
Being a B Corp is fantastic, but we’ve always had the aim to simply ‘do good’. So, whether that is making a commitment to ensure at least 80% of our suppliers are locally based to reduce our carbon footprint or pledging to reduce waste sent to landfill by taking our old newspapers to the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue to be re-used as bedding we strive to ensure we are always doing the right thing.
Another way we are giving back to our community is by offering our workspace free of charge for local events and activities. We are based in the centre of Reading, just a stone’s throw away from the train station, with an enviable office space available for hosting all kinds of events. If you are a business in the surrounding Berkshire area do get in touch to discuss availability and how we can help.
Our chosen charity is Smart Works Reading, a local charity helping women prepare for interviews through coaching and dressing services, making them feel empowered and ready for life in the business world. Every year we donate £10 for every attendee to Little Red Rooster Summer and Christmas events to Smart Works, so that they can continue to invest in helping these women in our community. If you’d like to see more of what they do or donate, please head to their website.
Diversity
Our diversity statement: We are dedicated to creating an inclusive space for our team and extending this culture of inclusion into our work. At Little Red Rooster diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to our mission. Little Red Rooster should reflect the vast diversity of the communities we serve. Diverse voices should be elevated and intentionally integrated into our work. We embrace difference and diversity of identity, experience, and thought. By promoting these values, we aim to create a positive work experience that encourage a sense of belonging for everyone.
Whatever your gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or background, Little Red Rooster is always looking for the very best PR talent. We want to create a truly inclusive agency and continually implement new initiatives.
We have been working hard on an all-encompassing diversity & inclusivity programme that promotes equality across every aspect of the business. From recruitment to conduct in the office, ensuring Little Red Rooster is as open and welcoming as possible is a top priority.
Changes have included blogging about company practices, such as our parental support scheme, and celebrating LGBT+ history. We also hosted a masterclass with the Taylor Bennett Foundation, which was set up to help people from minority ethnic backgrounds pursue a career in communications.
One crucial action we can all take is to foster allyship. An ally is a person fighting for the equality of a marginalised group they are not a part of. So, apart from taking part in diversity training with the lovely people at We Create Space, what workplace initiatives can we be proud of?

We have a completely female senior team with a female founder.

We support working mums with flexible hours; almost a quarter of our team is made up of working mums who rely on flexible working and part-time hours around childcare. We also offer three months paid maternity and paternity pay, over and above statutory guidelines.

Our workforce, past and present, has been made up of a diverse group of individuals across race, background and sexuality. Little Red Rooster is an equal opportunities employer and we strive to attract employees from diverse backgrounds. We have worked with a charity, the Taylor Bennett Foundation, encouraging minority ethnic graduates to pursue a career in communications.

We offer fully paid internships above the Living Wage – we are a Living Wage employer. The current Living Wage is £12.21 per hour. We have completely transparent pay bands and job descriptions that all sit at or above current London weighted PR roles. In fact, we have always championed our paid internship programme.

We offer initial interviews virtually so there is not the need to pay for travel, and pay all expenses on a monthly basis so no one is ever out of pocket for too long. In fact, we offer the use of our company card for larger purchases, so the team are not expected to pay themselves.

To improve diversity, it’s important we benchmark and measure where we are. In Reading, where our HQ is based, the population is 33% non-white. Our current non-white diversity sits at 14%.

The population aged 16 years and over that identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual in 2021 was an estimated 1.5% of the UK public. We continue to be a supportive, diverse and inclusive working environment here at Little Red Rooster.
So, what is our plan to improve? On top of our Design for Diversity Pledge, we will implement the following:
- A tracker for the diversity of ownership among our suppliers – and formal targets to make specific purchases from this list
- Attract and retain working class talent with policies and training designed to help them adapt to different challenges and situations
- Give preference to suppliers with ownership from underrepresented populations
