Why B-Corp Matters in PR

At Little Red Rooster, we know credibility and trust sit at the heart of great PR. As a B Corp PR agency, we also know those principles have to apply to how we run our own business.

Becoming a B Corp was a significant step for us. It means making a commitment to align our values, our advice and our actions.

We asked Holly Dunham-Shortt, our Head of People and Culture, to share her perspective on working at a certified B Corp PR agency, and what that means for our people, our clients and the work we do.

Seeing B Corp from the inside

I have worked across many industries and with some very big names, but this is the first B Corp I have worked for.

Seeing it from the inside has given me a different perspective on what responsible business really means in practice.

I did not join with a deep understanding of B Corp, and I am still learning. But it has already made me think much more carefully about how closely our values, our advice and our actions need to align.

Why being a B Corp PR agency matters

PR is built on trust.

We advise brands on reputation, transparency and behaviour, so our own credibility matters too. Being a B Corp holds us to the same high standards we expect of our clients and makes that responsibility real.

What has stood out to me most is how practical the framework is. B Corp looks at the whole business, not simply its output.

It looks at how a business treats its people, how leaders make decisions, who the company works with and how it balances impact with profit.

It takes values off presentation slides and puts them into everyday decisions.

Accountability goes beyond the badge

I have also been struck by how rigorous the B Corp process has become.

Standards have evolved, expectations have risen and businesses must provide clear evidence of the progress they make.

Recertification brings further accountability, leaving far less room for vague commitments without action. That rigour matters, particularly in an industry where credibility is everything.

Building trust with clients

Being part of a B Corp PR agency has changed how I think about trust with clients too.

Clients are asking better questions and expect honest, well-evidenced answers.

Being a B Corp does not mean you have everything figured out. It means you are willing to measure your progress, accept scrutiny and take responsibility for where you still need to improve.

That builds confidence.

It also matters when brands communicate their own environmental and social commitments. Our Little Red Rooster Sessions on communicating sustainability explored why transparency matters when businesses talk about their impact.

What B Corp means for our people

The impact is just as important internally.

PR runs on people. Being clear about our values and impact helps us attract and retain people who care about both the work and the environment they are part of.

That creates stronger teams and, ultimately, better work.

For me, B Corp is not a badge or a marketing line. It is a commitment to building a responsible business and being honest about where you are doing well and where you still need to improve.

Making sure our actions match our words

PR has influence. With that influence comes responsibility.

Working at a B Corp PR agency for the first time has shown me just how important it is for our actions to match our words.

For an industry built on trust, that matters.
