AW21 Fashion Month struts into a post-pandemic world of glamour

After an unprecedented year, we were excited to see this season’s catwalk revisit the glitz and glamour of previous years and break free from the shackles of lockdown looks and designer loungewear. The trends arising from AW21 catwalks suggest designers are desperate to leave this era behind and strut into a post-pandemic season of freedom and fun.

It’s an exciting 180 from last season, with AW21’s biggest trend predications celebrating bold colours and textures that emphasise movement and radiate elegance.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite trends from Fashion Month.

Free the fringe

A standout trend from this season’s fashion month was fringing – it was everywhere! Adding volume and texture to everything from clothing to accessories, designers made a statement with frills and tassels to accentuate the models’ every move, as if to say ‘let’s go out and get moving!’.

Quilting

A trend fit for all occasions from runway to ski slope, quilting has made a comeback this season with the likes of Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu flaunting designs of padded perfection from head to toe.

Grandad’s paradise

A trend we’ve already seen emerging on the UK high street and our Instagram explore page is the V-neck tank top. Branded ‘the grandad tank’, this look headlined New York fashion week and was complemented by everything from 70s flares and roll neck tops to baggy jeans and oversized shirts.

Pretty in pink

Stepping away from the soft ‘millennial’ pink tones that dominated our homes and accessories a few years back, we’re seeing a revival of braver and bolder hues, including bright block shades or subtle glimmers of blush.
