Last Friday we all trekked down to London for our annual Journalist Christmas Lunch; a fantastic opportunity for us all to catch up and get well and truly into the Christmas spirit. This year, we hosted our lunch at Polpo in Covent Garden, a unique bar specialising in Italian tapas-style dishes, perfect for sharing.
Our guests included Ian Tucker, Chris Haslam, Kate Worthington, James Day, David Phelan, Will Dunn, Rosie Mullender, Jonathon Margolis, Jeremy White, Stuart Miles, Dan Jones, Matt Warman, Tom Bailey and Jen Haslam, from a range of titles including The Observer, Financial Times, The Sun, the Daily Telegraph, Cosmopolitan, The Metro, Shortlist, Livingetc, Wired, and Stuff, to name a few.
We feasted on delicious prawn tempura, cuttlefish gnocchi, flank steak and mushrooms before indulging our sweet tooth with miniature tiramisu pots and orange cake. All our guests were also treated to a goodie bag with a wonderful selection of products to take home with them, including Breffo’s Spiderpodiums, goo.ey skins, a selection of wonderful cases from Proporta, XSories gadgets and LifeSpan pedometers…oh, and some lovely chocolates from Bisque.
With the wine and Prosecco flowing, the time came for our Little Red Rooster raffle. We had a great selection of prizes on offer generously donated by our lovely clients, including a number of Ruark Audio radios and speakers, Denon headphones, Proporta bundles and Silken Favours goodies. We also had a sneaky trick up our sleeves; one prize appeared to be a humungous jar of pickled eggs, but was in fact the top prize, a set of Dynaudio Xeo 3 Speakers. We were actually rather surprised the pickled eggs were unknowingly chosen and not left until the end!
All full up on food and festive cheer and with prizes and goodie bags in hand, we made our way to the ME Hotel’s amazing Radio Rooftop Bar, offering a beautiful view over Somerset House ice rink and feeling even more Christmassy than ever!
