London Fashion Week began on the 13th of September and went on until the 17th. We all got very excited in the Little Red Rooster office about the Spring/Summer collections and in preparation for London Fashion Week we were all admiring the coverage from New York Fashion Week.
Last yearâs London Fashion Week saw a load of outrageous designs, one of the most shocking being Pam Hoggâs naked runway. Her striking leather designs were an exciting addition to last yearâs fashion week and we hoped for more extravagant designs this year. Hoggâs SS14 show did not disappoint, although, it again left little to the imagination!
We loved the geometric print used across the promotional materials for London Fashion Week (LFW). Designed by Nicholas Kirkwood, his signature chevron pattern was used to create a strong visual identity, which ran throughout the spring/summer 2014 LFW branding.
The edgy design was reflected at New York Fashion Week. With lots of new looks being showcased in fashion month, lots of care was taken when doing the modelâs makeup and hair. Many models were seen in New York Fashion Week with natural, earthy colours in their makeup. Others were given pale skin and bleached eyebrows with the statement being their matt red lipstick. It seems that not much attention had been paid to making the models hair neat and perfect, instead, more time has been spent going for the âmessyâ or casual look.
This was also reflected in the catwalk collections. We loved Victoria Beckhamâs new casual appearance and she looked great in her baggy, just below the knee, trousers which she paired with a three quarter sleeve, white shirt. This outfit was a total contrast to Victoriaâs normal style, which consists of skinny jeans and more tightly fitting clothes. Maybe these will be the trousers we are all looking to buy in spring/summer 2014. Looks like we wonât have to squeeze into skinny jeans next year!
We think Victoria Beckhamâs collection looked amazing, and showed a more relaxed side to her fashion style.
This yearâs SS14 fashion month saw a sequence of bold silhouettes. The catwalk was full of boxy shapes, minimalism and all things white, which emerged as themes at key shows like Alexander Wang and Rag & Bone.
Lily Collins (daughter of Phil Collins) was the name on everyoneâs lips before Fashion Week. She looked great in Paris with a slightly alternative, gothic makeup look. Will she be the new face paving the way for British fashion following the footsteps of Cara Delevingne?
Cara Delevingne was the model of the moment last year. This year Cara, along with the luxury label Burberry were the most discussed keywords relating to LFW on Facebook.
