In the sticky heat on a hot Thursday evening ( a few weeks ago, I may add!), we braved the even hotter Hackney House for the London College of Fashion Graduate Show. The talent each year seems more and more promising, so we were excited to see what inspiring work the students had created this year. The buzz of anticipation as the show started manifested itself in silence. Before us on the catwalk, mirrors reflected the light, so we didn’t know from where or when the models would come. Within seconds the DJ started the cool electro sounds and the models started appearing in the array of mirrors.
A common trend was colour blocking. The candid, no- pretenses colour of tangerine appeared most popular, featuring in a lot of the collections. Continuing from last season, this colour seems that it is not going anywhere quickly and will be making appearances in our Autumn/ Winter wardrobe. Another favourite from last season was a chunky soled shoe; whether they be platform lace- ups or chunky sandal wedges. It seems that Autumn/Winter collections bring excess.

The graduate show celebrated individuality by street casting all the models. Out of the 100 that auditioned 37 were picked. This ensured that catwalks and fashion shoots truly celebrated identity. This gave the show a fresh edge, heralding individuality and ensuring that every aspect of each designer’s show was truly original.
