Biba is set to be re-launched by House of Fraser in September and its been hailed by its Director of Woman’s Wear and Accessories Stephanie Chen, as the ‘biggest fashion launch in the store’s history’.
Biba was an iconic and popular London fashion store of the 1960s and 1970s. It was started and run by the Polish-born Barbara Hulanicki. Biba had its first significantsuccess in May 1964 when it offered a pink gingham dress to readers of the Daily Mirror. The dress had celebrity appeal too, as a similar dress had been worn by French icon, Brigitte Bardot. The morning after the dress was advertised in the Daily Mirror, it had received over 4,000 orders. Ultimately, some 17,000 outfits were sold. The rest as they say was history…
Alongside presence in House of Fraser stores and on the website there will also be a dedicated site at www.Mybiba.com. At Little Red Rooster we’re fans of all things 60s / 70s (why do you think we are called Little Red Rooster?), so we are super excited to see what the new range will bring. Fronted by model and girl-about-town Daisy Lowe, it will have two different labels running through the collection.
Biba Blue will be focused on denim and Biba Gold will be a limited edition line set at a higher price tag. The two main themes running through the collection are luxe and soft metallics. So, get the 9th September into your diaries people, we have no doubt in our minds that this new range is going to be one of the high street highlights of AW10 and we can’t wait!
