As a brand renowned for its bold use of colour, it was a natural fit for luxury radiator firm Bisque to join forces with another champion of all things bright and beautiful. Interior designers-turned-bloggers extraordinaire 2LG Studio held an exclusive talk at its newly-opened showroom in the heart of Angel, Islington last night, which invited a select handful of interior designers and stylists into the fold to talk all things colour and bespoke design.
Compered by leading interiors journalist Claudia Baillie (of Elle Decoration, Livingetc and Sunday Times Style fame), the event ran through a number of completed projects by the pair. With special attention paid to bespoke furniture and 2LG’s use of colour, the talk was aimed at the design crowd to give them the confidence to commission bespoke items for their projects and be bold with their designs.
“I don’t think you’ll ever regret a bold decision. You’ll regret not making it”, advised Russell, one half of 2LG. It is this ethos which has given 2LG – aka Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead – their particular style; vivid pops of colour which are completely personal to the homeowner. But how to choose which colours to use? “Jordan is a mystic Meg; he swans in imagining colours and visions. I’m more of a storyteller, and like to tell a story through the colours we choose”, continued Russell.
Take, for example, a recent project the pair worked on in Farnham. While making over the local former greengrocer’s home, the pair wanted to bring the vividness and colour of his day job inside. Although the client was nervous, 2LG drew their inspiration from local history and arts and crafts colours to completely modernise his home, with a focus on hues of green and pink to reflect the shades the homeowner had become so accustomed to.
“We also ask our clients what clothes they like to wear. This tells us which colours make them happy. There’s no point having a wardrobe full of bright clothes and an all-white home. It’s just not you”.
Guests were also awarded an exclusive first-peek at 2LG’s recently renovated kitchen – complete with colour-matched Classic rads, carefully painted to match Mylands of London’s Rose Theatre paint. Keep an eye out for the full reveal, due to go live on the blog soon!
