Bang & Olufsen brings to light the scents of Scandinavian summer

Yesterday LRR and Bang & Olufsen hosted 12 journalists from an array of fashion and lifestyle titles for a delightful afternoon in honour of the Danish brand’s new Spring Summer 2019 collection.

 

Nestled in the charming Bourne & Hollingsworth Kitchen in Clerkenwell, yesterday’s press event was a delightful afternoon of delicious Scandi-inspired platters, an enchanting candle-making workshop and, of course, wonderful company.

 

 

 

The venue conveyed Bang & Olufsen’s taste for clean, minimalist aesthetics and served as the perfect setting to introduce journalists to the collection titled Scandinavian Summer, inspired behind by the earthy elements that are Pine, Sky and Clay.

 

The collection was presented by Bang & Olufsen’s brilliant sales manager, Tom McKenna. Tom captivated the audience with the legendary story of how Peter Bang and Sven Olufsen founded the company 94 years ago, making the brand the longest-standing audio company in the world. Tom also introduced guests to SS19 and revealed the inspiration behind the products.

 

The limited-edition collection includes the H9i headphones, the A1 portable speaker and the E6 active earphones in a new, ethereal colour scheme. Clay is a deep and natural colour inspired by the earthy tones of Scandinavian summer and dramatic seaside cliffs; Pine, a dark green that brings to mind the crisp freshness and deep contrasts of the Scandinavian forest; and Sky, a light blue tone with a cool sense of breezy summer afternoons.

 

 

 

 

After a few swigs of delicious Lingonberry Bellinis and Scandi Cosmopolitans, our guests, who were a mixture of stellar press from the likes of iD, Harper’s Bazaar, Red, Daily Telegraph and more,  were seated and welcomed to a private candle-making class led by the London Refinery’s director, Lucy Heale. Lucy expertly guided the class on how to select fragrances, and how the scents of Scandinavian summer inspired the SS19 themes. Guests could choose to create a “Pine”, “Sky” or “Clay” candle, or alternatively, to go off-piste and make their very own personalised scent. At the end of the candle-making process, each candle was ready to be named and taken home.
