Dolce Stil Novo debuts at Salone del Mobile

Consumer Technology, Interiors

The sights and sounds of Salone del Mobile in Milan are always something to behold, but Little Red Rooster is reserving special praise for the stunning new Dolce Stil Novo collection turning heads on the Smeg stand.

This most elegant and technically advanced range of appliances, is led by a selection of minimalist built-in ovens, game-changing hobs and pan-stand designs inspired by the natural world.

We are incredibly proud to be working with a brand that puts ‘technology with style’ at the forefront of their ethos and Dolce Stil Novo represents the pinnacle of innovative Italian design, stylishly created in collaboration with long-time design partner, and award winning architect, Guido Canali.

The highly-detailed collection of ovens, compacts, wine coolers, coffee machines and more, feature cutting-edge technology – such as touchscreen controls and automatically retractable handles cut from the finest materials – and follow an artistic vision of where opposites meet and darkness becomes light.

Completing this playful yet purposeful range are four incredible flora and fauna-themed hobs featuring premium titanium pan-stand casts comprising of leaves, butterflies, fruit and birds, chosen personally by Smeg CEO Vittorio Bertazzoni in an ode to his love of the outdoors.

The premium stainless steel hobs include radical new flat ‘blade’ gas burners, patented and exclusive to the brand, that deliver a continuous ring of vertical flame upwards to guarantee maximum heat transfer, reduce heat dispersion and increase efficiency by 20%.

When it came to naming this strikingly avant-garde collection, Smeg took influence from a 13th Century literary movement in Sicilian and Tuscan love poetry, also called Dolce Stil Novo, which translates from the Italian as ‘Sweet New Style’.

The collection comes to specially selected premium stockists in September and follows Smeg’s jaw-dropping collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana. The meeting of two famous Italian names spawned a limited edition selection of hand painted FAB28 fridges that are like nothing ever seen before in a household appliance.

Decorated by Sicilian artists, the fridges feature poignant local iconography and depict historical medieval scenes. Each one is individually priced and available to personal callers to Smeg only.
